The Pendant From the Deep

THE TWELFTH FILE — FILE 001

Recovered account — sailing vessel Asteria, out of Piraeus.

The Asteria was reported adrift with no one aboard. Coast Guard drone footage showed an empty deck, engine idling, no signs of struggle.

The sailing party — Amanda, Jessie, Lily, Mario and Steve — had gone diving nearby.

Mario descended to a formation of columns that should not exist at that depth. Half-buried in silt, a carved relief of a woman looked back at him: eyes closed, an XII medallion carved in stone against her chest.

Beside the relief, in the open, lay the medallion itself. Not stone. Bronze, and warm.

Mario surfaced with it. Back on deck, it passed from hand to hand — until Amanda held it.

The Coast Guard’s drone footage ends there. What the sailing party described afterward — a woman rising from water that was not there a moment before, firelight where there had been open sea — is recorded here without further comment.

Status: unknown.

Continued — Episode 02: The Story Begins.

The record does not end at the surface. What rose from the water did not stay where the sailing party left it.
